Court to Campus It follows in the wake of and draws inspiration from the well-established experience of countries such as the United States, Canada and Australia, where sport is institutionalised as a means of accessing the university system, promoting social mobility. This project will be added to the regular activity that the TEC has been developing since its inception as a high-performance centre, where the sporting development of young tennis prospects is linked to their awareness and commitment so that they become spokespeople and role models for various causes related to eco-social justice. In this vein, these players will also be a fundamental part of the new programme, in which they will be involved through various activities.
This The new stage of the TEC will be led by Marcos Garzo, who, in addition to having been a professional tennis player, has been associated with Nike for 25 years, where he has held roles of the highest responsibility.. He was Vice President and General Manager of Nike's football division in the EMEA and Southern Europe regions for almost 10 years; and he also worked in the marketing area, focusing on Spain, Portugal, and EMEA, for almost 15 years. Garzo was also a co-founder of Sporttips, a start-up created to offer comprehensive health services to athletes, with an emphasis on groups such as Paralympians, practitioners of minority sports, female categories, or amateur athletes who cannot access the same treatments as top-level professionals.
The arrival of Marcos Garzo also coincides with the process of integrating the TEC's activity into the transversal organisational structure of the Ferrer Foundations. We have no doubt that these changes will foster the growth and further consolidation of the TEC as a unique and benchmark project in the defence of eco-social justice through sport.
