Action Palestine promotes the participation of six publishing houses from Western Asia in the READ Festival

From the 15th to the 18th of September, Acció Palestina has promoted the participation of six publishing projects from Palestine, Lebanon and Syria Within the framework of the READ Barcelona 2026 festival: Atlas for Publishing & Distribution, Al Raqamiah, Dar al Adab, Dar Annahda Alarabiyya, Romman Magazine and Mada al-Carmel.

With trajectories also developed from the diaspora, these six initiatives have had the opportunity to present their work, share experiences and establish new connections with publishers, bookstores, authors, translators and readers from around the world.

Some of its representatives have also been able to visit the Bookshop Palestine Windows and recommend some of the most 4,000 books from its catalog:

• Adan Kinana, coordinator of the media department of Mada al-Carmel, the Arab Research Center, has recommended three children’s books that address the complex Palestinian reality, each in its own way, in an accessible and simple way.

• Samar Haddad, editor of the publishing house Atlas de Damasc, has shared three titles that bring the general public closer to the Palestinian reality from different perspectives: the caricature, the novel, and the essay.
• Abdullah Al-Bayyari, member of the magazine Romman, a platform dedicated to the production and dissemination of ideas, books and publications around Palestine, has recommended three titles that address the Palestinian reality from the perspective of architecture and occupation, the history of Jaffa and the role of the Israeli academy in producing knowledge about Palestine.

READ Barcelona is the international convention of books and ideas that welcomes professionals in the publishing, magazine and critical thought sectors from around the world.
