The Ferrer for Food social kitchen increases production to combat poverty
The social kitchen of the Ferrer Social Justice Foundation achieved a production of nearly 4,400 daily meals during the first half of 2026 to respond to the increase in social needs.
According to the latest data from’Idescat, 24.81% of the population of Catalonia is at risk of poverty or social exclusion.. Faced with this context and the increasing demand for resources from social organisations, and the social kitchen of the Ferrer Social Justice Foundation has increased production up to nearly 4,400 daily meals during the first half of the year, producing approximately 5% more daily meals than during 2025.
This increase in production has been made possible by the optimisation of processes I al Ferrer for Food team's commitment.
Ferrer for Food’s responsible waste management recognised with the highest rating
The Ferrer for Food social kitchen has renewed the certification «Zero Waste Management» with the highest rating, excellent, and has increased up to 98% the percentage of waste generated in their daily activity that they receive an alternative management to prevent dumping. This milestone reinforces the Ferrer Social Justice Foundation's commitment to a more sustainable and responsible food model.
