On the 28th of May, and the Fundació Ferrer Green for Good has opened the new Sant Pau Art Museum (Barcelona), a social urban space created to contribute to the well-being of people with oncological diseases and their environment within the grounds ofSant Pau Hospital. Located around the Kālida Sant Pau Centre I have a surface area of 440 m²., becomes the sixth garden in the Green for Good Gardens network, an initiative that transforms disused spaces into green environments with positive social and environmental value.
During the event, Estefania Rico, Director of Socialisation of Wealth, referred to the importance of creating more sustainable cities: “With cities becoming increasingly uninhabitable, regenerative agriculture can help alleviate their shortcomings from an ecological, food, and social integration perspective.
The project complements the emotional, social and practical support offered by The Kālida Foundation it will allow a hundred users – patients, relatives, caregivers, volunteers and professionals – to participate in activities linked to cultivation and contact with nature, fostering emotional well-being and community connection. To achieve these objectives, one-third of the space has been dedicated to growing vegetables following the principles of regenerative agriculture and permaculture, while the rest incorporates fruit trees and accessible paths.
The inauguration ceremony brought together members of the Ferrer Foundations board and the Ferrer Green for Good Foundation team, as well as representatives from the Kālida Private Foundation, such as its director, Joan Reventós, who emotionally highlighted: ”having this new green space is a dream. It is not just a contemplative garden, but a productive one: a space where the users of the Kālida Centre can work and interact".
